Using WebDav
A short howto on using webdav to make file download and upload easier.
We now have webdav support up and working. My apologies to anyone
whose work was interrupted by me mucking around with the apache
configuration yesturday. If you are in Mac OS X (Windows XP has
builtin support that is rather flakey), open up the finder, click on
"Go" from the menubar, and connect to server. The server address is http://t2.unl.edu/dav/cms. In fact, you can mount ANY folder on the site just by prepending the URL with 'dav' as in above.
Be
aware that you will see all sorts of files that are hidden normally;
try to not touch them if you don't know what you are doing. I can role
back any transaction, but it isn't horribly convenient. There are some
nice things you can do - for example, you can save a document directly
to the webpage like this. Want a photo album? Create a photo album on
the web, and then drag and drop all the pictures into the folder via
webdav. They will automatically be created as photos.
Once I
get transforms working better, you will even be able to save a word
document on the folder, and have it automagically be converted to html
on the web.
